The Lord Mayor of Canterbury "The Lord Mayor's Christmas Gift Fund was established 71 years ago in 1952 - it is a local charity, run by local people, to benefit local residents. Traditionally again this year at Christmas, the Charity will distribute gifts in the name of the Lord Mayor to elderly, isolated, vulnerable and needy individuals and families in Canterbury and the surrounding villages.

ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS GIFT FUND

The Lord Mayor of Canterbury's Christmas Gift Fund has given grocery parcels to the elderly and those in need at Christmas time since 1952. Everyone who receives a parcel lives either in Canterbury itself or in its surrounding villages. The names of suitable recipients are collated thanks to outside agencies, such as community workers, medical practitioners and local churches, so that all those who receive a parcel from us have been recommended.
